Bright Beginnings celebrate Heritage Day

Staff and the children dressed up in national costumes to celebrate Heritage Day.

Food was also prepared and everyone enjoyed celebrating this special day in the S. African calendar.

Who we are

Bright Beginnings is a day care project for orphans and vulnerable children aged 6 weeks - 6 years. Run by the charismatic Thandeka Mahlalela, this creche provides a safe refuge for up to 50 children.

Children are also accepted for the After School Club.

Thandeka charges no fees as her clients cannot afford them.

Our goals

We want to register Bright Beginnings as a partial care facility and to this end, the Centre needs to comply with the standards set by the Department of Social Development. It is hoped they will be able to get a grant if these requirements are met. Their last inspection showed that requirements for another toilet cubicle and an improved kitchen and menu are still outstanding.

We hope to fundraise enough money in order to secure funding for this essential care facility.
